Meet The Crew

Brian Taylor – General Manager

Brian started in the marine industry in 1981 as the Parts Manager for Olympic Boat Center.  During his career he has managed several multi-million dollar marine businesses with as many as 40 employees.  In addition to his management experience, Brian is an electrical systems expert.  He has proven ability in the design and installation of the most complex electrical systems.  Brian has spent time at the Selene factories in China, and has an extensive knowledge of all Selene Yacht systems.

 

Gordon Babo – Woodworking and Design

‘Uncle Gordo’, as most of the family at SYS call him, has been doing professional carpentry work since 1975 and working on yachts since 2000. He started out in the yachting business as a woodworking and design artist for custom built yachts. He joined the Selene family in 2002 and has created many works of art, repair work and other projects for our customers. He has amazing design talent and he is a great person to work with.

Anthony Cuaresma – Electronics Installation

Anthony started in the industry at Bayliner on smaller boats doing stereo installation, instrument wiring and general repairs. At SYS, Anthony works on electronics and electrical installations. He continues to advance his knowledge of electronics service and troubleshooting. With his charismatic personality he is a motivational member of the group.

 

Alan Funk - Electrical Installations

Alan came to us with experience from Bayliner doing fiberglass repair and from Xantrex, a local electrical company, where he built solar systems, inverters and electrical assemblies. He is an electrical and electronics installer at SYS and is studying for his ABYC certification. Alan has a good work ethic and ‘can do’ attitude and he is a great part of our service team.

John Iversen Purchasing Manager

John is a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He has been working with Selene Trawlers for the past 5 years and prior to that he had 15 years experience in boat manufacturing. John is in charge of purchasing and procurement of custom Selene parts.

 

Geoffrey Mills – Installation & Service Technician

Geoff has an extensive aerospace background working with electrical and mechanical systems.  With over 20 years experience, Geoff offers Selene Yacht Service customers efficient troubleshooting, repairs and installation in a wide variety of environments. 

Kathleen Nuss Office Manager

Kathleen joined our staff in 2007 as the Office Manager. Previously she worked with Robert in the travel business for many years and brings excellent organizational skills to the company. As office manager at SYS, she tries to keep “all the boys” in line and moving forward. She is a good problem solver, and her smiling, calm, positive attitude has made her a popular addition to the staff.

 

Jamie Ostrom –Brightwork Specialist

Jamie is the brightwork specialist at SYS and makes all of the woodwork shine.  She has over 12 years of experience in brightwork and the detailing of vessels. She has worked on Selene Trawlers since they first arrived in the Northwest and owned her own detailing business for 4 years. Jamie always has a smile and is a pleasure to have as a part of our team.

Kate Porter – Warranty Specialist

Kate is our Selene warranty claims specialist and she processes the approved warranty claims and makes the ensuing work orders available for the crew. Kate is from Seattle and has taken courses at Occidental Arts College in Pasadena, CA and has spent time abroad. Kate’s unique and even keeled personality makes her a pleasure to work with.

Mike Shultz – Installation and Service Technician

Mike has a broad mechanical and electronics background. He started working with electronics and trained as a service technician in 1999. He has applied his knowledge to many areas of marine electrical and mechanical systems as well as sailboat rigging. Mike always is willing to help when needed and possesses a positive, ‘can do’ attitude! He is studying for his ABYC Certification.
